[/i] here. It seemed like a recipe for disaster.
"Alright class, listen up." Johnathon stopped on one of the higher steps leading into the woods just beyond the garden, and was staring over the heads of his class. If you could really call it that. There were only a few kids actually staring back at him, and his usually drunk assistant was hovering just a step below him, trying to look authoritative. It didn't suit Biagio in the least. With a roll of his eyes, John looked back at his students and lifted his arm, pointing his left thumb into the wooded area.
"Usually, the Headmaster doesn't allow us to take kids off school grounds on field-trips, but I managed to persuade him, just this once, to let us wander into the woods a bit so we can learn a few things. And, depending on how this goes," And how wonderful I feel after this fiasco. "It may lead to more field trips in the future. Maybe even ones that are fun for you guys." If he could, John would have added a sarcastic and overly cheesy smile just then, but just the thought of it made him cringe a little inside.
Johnathon's eyes swept to the left, his lips turning up into an annoyed smirk as he gently swatted the back of Biagio's head. "That's for me to know, and for you to find out. Now let's go![/b]" He didn't wait for an answer, and instead turned on his heel and practically skipped up the remaining steps. They were covered in leaves, and the stones themselves were weathered and flooded with moss, but his very expensive hiking boots kept him from slipping, tripping or falling, and opened the possibility of watching a few of his students trip up the stairs.
Classic comedy, is classic.
But to his disappointment, the trudging kids were moving too slow for the stairs to really have an effect, and tightening the straps of his knapsack, John pushed onward into the foggy morning.
The sunshine would clear out the fog soon enough, but for the moment he was going to bask in the early morning breeze. Fog had never bothered him, and it made the woods feel... Mysterious. More so then he already found them. It had been only eight when he collected everyone at the opening of the woods, and it was nearly nine thirty before everyone was actually there, a late start, but he assumed they'd make it to their final destination about noon. Meaning they'd have a few hours of breeze while they hiked, and an afternoon of sweat as they dug around in the dirt. IF he was lucky, John would get a few afternoon breezes for the hike back.
Maybe.
Checking over his back every so often, John kept moving forwards, careful to stay on the path, and pointing out several different plants along the way. What the students didn't know was, once they reached the clearing, they'd be getting a little quiz. He was a teacher after all. Had to act like it sometimes. And just as the sun peaked, John entered the solitary clearing, a little sore from the walk, but better off then his students.
Panting and stumbling, they all wandered into the clearing, collapsing in different areas, trying to catch their breathes, and cool off. Some removed articles of clothing they no longer needed, and others were quickly going through the water supply. Good thing there's a creek around here..
"Alright, I'll give you guys a few minutes of rest, and then it's time to get to work.[/b]" From the corner of his eye he caught the couple of stragglers finally enter the clearing, and at the rear was his ever faithful assistant, Biagio. Huffing, puffing, and holding an ache in his side. John couldn't help but chuckle as his friend collapsed in a heap just inside a semi-circle of rocks.
And this is what alcohol does to you folks.[/i]
