PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION
Spadester is a charming, witty, funny, flexible, fierce, loyal, realistic, daring, creative and an extremely honest individual. In a way, he could double as a counselor if Osamu decided to strip him of his gold stars in the staff rankings.
But his best quality is public speaking. Nobody gets through to a crowd better than Ed. He's equally as comfortable speaking to either one or two people or an audience of 500k. Improvisation comes to him naturally, and the actions he takes in his job are equally as natural, which in total make sure things flow seamlessly for Osamu.
Spade's very distant with most people, part of it because it's hard for him to be attached to just a small group of friends. He likes to socialize, so his being distant is not equivalent to being shy. But if he's at a party, you won't find him going all out like a maniac. He has enough self-control to be considered a person who likes to party in a less brusque way--meaning he'll probably be taking more breaks from the dance floor and the blasting speakers than anyone else.
With such a deviously controlled personality, one can assume that Ed likes to pose as a role model, which he indirectly does at times when he interacts with the staff in front of students. His imperturbability is yet another reason why Kato chose him as the chief of staff--nothing seems to make him too shocked, which is expected from a boy from NYC. Once you see everything there, nothing surprises you anymore.

ABILITY
MIIIRRAAAGGEEEE ! ?
Mirages are pesky things. But they come in handy for when you want to jerk someone around in the desert. You know. Just pop a beer fountain in the middle of it and watch the poor guy sprint like the wind, dive for it and get a mouthful of sand.
What he's able to do is on a molecular level. Ed focuses on manipulating molecules of water in the air so that they become concentrated enough in a particular area. They grow to be misty clouds of some sort that can be seen in odd lighting--a mist cloud that he makes may sometimes be mistaken for a ghost by some unlucky bystander. When photons of light hit these concentrated particles, he changes how the light refracts through the water particles, and LO! A virtual image that can be seen from any angle (in desired light) appears.
Eddie also uses a type of H2O-molecular manipulation that can change the aridity and water content of the air within an approximate thirty-foot radius, but that isn't very useful unless you want to cause someone athlete's foot or an irritating skin condition. On second thought, maybe that is a good payback trick.
So, YES Spadester can make up a mirage or two on the spot--as long as there's a fair amount of sunlight available. Without it, there's no way for him to create an image through the sparse water molecules in the air. The amount of sunlight also causes the opacity of the mirage to change. More sunlight means a more defined, opaque-looking mirage. Less sunlight leads to a transparent, ghostlike mirage.
Truth is, sometimes creating mirages in dim-lighted conditions can help if you want to make a fake ghosty, but in the long run he needs broad daylight for it to work at an HD-Quality.
STRENGTHS
Perfect for all-around pranking, handy for creating a false environment for a covert operation, and even create a mirage-mask around himself so he looks like another person. Because Ed's got a photographic memory, he has the ability to take a look at something, and replicate it via mirage.
WEAKNESSES
His powers are limited to how much light and water content in the air is provided for him to work with in his environment. If neither are at a level at which he can work with, then he can't use his powers. If he decides to make a mirage-mask around himself, or to make a mirage-person, he can't provide the voice for them, only the image.
Yet another downside is that his powers aren't so strong as to let him manipulate fully tangible streams of water. He can control the molecules as well as droplets, but nothing as H2O concentrated as a puddle after a rainstorm.
