Born in a tall spruce tree near the Great Lakes in Canada, Dimitri was raised with another nestmate by his mother. Though he was always taught to never go near the Featherless Ones- humans- because of their pebble-shooting fire-sticks, the young fledgling was always curious about the bird-like creatures who hadn't any feathers on their wings or tails on their backsides. He didn't see the danger in a couple of pebbles- he was sure he would be faster. He would trust his wings to carry him far and fast.
When he finally left the nest, he made his own territory near the end of the trees to a field near a bunch of the Featherless Ones' nests so he could study them. Curious little creatures they were, and their little hatchlings had the oddest toys. They had smooth, shiny round rocks in many colors and little things with movable paws that spun back and forth, miniature versions of the much larger monsters that prowled the long strips of black stone all the time.
A few moons passed, and this group of Featherless Ones began to bore him. He traveled southeast, towards what his kind called "The Western Shores". He'd heard it was much warmer there.
Making his territory along the waterline on a sandy beach near a large nest of Featherless Ones, his perch a strangely leafbare tree with a tuft of leaves at the top and round brown fruits hanging from underneath them, he settled in wait.
Which was how he discovered the Winged One. The Feathered One. A no-feather boy with the wings of a crow. Immediately, Dimitri was completely obsessed.
Eventually, this led to their imminent meeting. They became quick friends, and Dimitri learned that the Winged One was named Vlad and had another friend- a Serval named Tabitha.
And The Word is? COAGULATED.

A cub born in a small African burrow, Tabitha was raised alongside her brother by her mother. She learned hunting and fighting like any wild Serval would, and learned to respect the dark-skinned, hairless two-legs and their prey. Her mother taught her early on that if they left their prey alone, the two-legs would leave them alone as well.
This was the reason for their separation.
Pale two-legs came with their firesticks, and, since the three Servals did not fear them, they did not run. Then, the two-legs raised their firesticks and shot shiny thorns at the felines, who promptly fell asleep.
They woke in silver-webbed things they couldn't escape from, with the feeling that they were flying, the ground far beneath their feet.
After two sunrises, they arrived in a new place- something the other female Serval that was already there called a 'zoo'. They were surrounded by clear, 'glass' 'walls'. Then, the next dawn, Tabby's mother and brother were gone. "They took them to another zoo," Lila, the other Serval, commented. Distraught and sad, Tabs settled into idle zoo life.
Then, she saw the two-leg cub.
He had a dark tuft of long fur sprouting from his head, and his back always rustled. Odd. She heard his words in her mind. "Are you unhappy here, little cat?" She'd responded, "Yes." immediately.
The following moonhigh, a big bird- wait, that was the two-leg cub! swooped down and snatched her up, carrying her away to live with him in his oceanside nest and naming her Tabitha.
Eventually, he befriended a bird like himself he named Dimitri. That was fine with Tabs. She didn't like feathers between her teeth, but hey. Beggars can't be choosers.
And The Word is? coagulated.
