With howls, woofs and yips of relief and celebration, her brothers raced forward to cover their battered and bruised sister with licks and fill her head with congratulatory remarks. Her father walked to her, keeping his dignity, and rose his head to her in pride. Though tired and sore, Maggie was happy to see that she'd pleased her father. She limped home alongside him as her littermates took care of the elk.
After the Swift pack heard her story, she earned her wolf name; Bear. She was given first bite of the bull elk, a true honor, since normally the alpha pair get to eat their fill before anyone else is allowed to.
A few years later, Bear decided it was time to move on. Becoming a lone wolf, she traveled, somehow coming to the town of Brookings, Nevada. There, she discovered a pack of canines in Desdemona woods, who'd been causing trouble for the locals. They were led by a black wolf-dog named Lucifer, and the pack itself was a mixture of a few wolves, a bunch of stray/feral dogs, and even a couple other wolf-dogs. Let's just say Lucifer wasn't very welcoming to Mags and he got a nice ass-kicking. He wasn't a were so the fight was only about a minute long.
Despite the fact Maggie didn't want to be an alpha, she ended up as the leader of the pack, which is now known as the Desdemona Creek pack.
