Personality Description:

Selby is a no-nonsense kind of girl.

She doesn't take crap from anyone and knows how to handle herself in every situation. She had to grow up at a young age, and has a high maturity level for being only seventeen. Have been orphaned at a young age, and with a younger brother to take care of, Selby had to put aside her own needs and wants and take care of him. She's an overly compassionate soul, and finds herself helping everyone around her at her own expense, but she doesn't mind.

Selby works hard for everything she has, and works even harder to provide for her brother while still staying under the radar, considering she's a minor as well and technically they both should be in an orphanage. Confident, blunt, protective and sassy, Selby refuses to be around anything negative or nonsensical, and keeps her self quite isolated from most people. Especially men.

Selby has the ability to hear others thoughts. She can not read minds, or explore others thoughts, but she can hear what someone is thinking near her, as if they were saying it out loud. Though she can't tune everything out, sometimes she can hum, or sing loudly enough in her head to help keep those other thoughts out.

Selby was born in a small, quite unknown town just outside of Queanbeyan, Australia. She was the first child in the family, and was spoiled for the first few years of her life. Her father worked at the local bank, and made enough to provide for his family so her sickly mother could stay at home and raise Selby. Which was a perfect set-up for the both of them. Her mother was always sick, neither her father nor the local doctor could figure out what was wrong with her, but her mother refused to travel anywhere to seek better help, she believed that what would happen, would happen, and she didn't want to waste time searching for an unwanted answer, when she could be spending time with her family.

Her husband agreed, seeing he was just as selfish are her, and wanted nothing more then to spend as much time with both his wife and Selby before something tore them apart. That 'something' happened when Selby was eight. Her mother had become pregnant once more, this time giving birth to a boy, however she didn't make it much past the birth of her younger brother, before she died. From the death of his wife, Selby's father slowly slipped into a dark, drunken state, over the next few years, neglected his job, his kids and even his well-being and in his grief eventually killed himself. Unfortunately, he left nothing behind for Selby or her younger brother.

When Selby turned thirteen she was given a job at a diner in Queanbeyan, working as a dish-washer and bus-boy for what little the owners were allowed to give her [seeing she was under age]. Selby took what she was given, bought small amounts of the basic necessities her brother and she needed and returned to the abandoned building the two were living in. Selby wasn't able to provide much, though she made sure her brother was in day-care, and school when it came to it, even at the expense of her own schooling and need of food. Yet she refused to allow them to end up in an orphanage, she didn't want to be separated from her brother, he was all Selby had, and she couldn't lose him.

Eventually, the two of them moved to Sydney, in order for Selby to try and find a better paying job, and for a more appropriate schooling for her brother. Here, she met Rick Ashton, an older gentlemen who recently lost his family and was awed by Selby's story. He took the both of them in, introduced them both to the world of the Hunters and pretty much adopted the two of them. After some time, Rick decided it was time for Selby to venture out, since he noticed her isolated state towards everyone but her brother, and introduced her to both Biagio and Caje. The three immediately hit it off, became the best of friends and rather close because of their similiar family history.

When Selby turned seventeen he sent the three of them out with their first real "mission". Selby would attend Brookshire Academy, with Caje and Biagio working there undercover for the Guild. Selby only agreed because she knew that Rick would take better care of her brother then she ever could, and angering him by refusing the mission, may end up in the both of them out in the street once more.
